# If you are going to do something, do it right

I was once told this adage by my uncle many years ago, I constantly think about its implications.
Such a pithy phrase is often what you need to get through that slog of work that you want to cut corners on. Often times, cutting corners on things just hurts yourself, it hurts your reputation. Here is another version I've seen:
> "Half-hearted efforts yield half-hearted results"
Think of it as a point of pride, think of how you spend your time; why waste that with low-quality output? Otherwise, you'll be left wondering, could I have actually enjoyed it, if I had fully dedicated myself to it?
