# Grow the pie Created: 2023_02_23 11:28 Tags: [[Psychology]] [[Advice]] The world is not a zero sum game. Where for me to prosper I have to take from you. If it were zero sum, the size of the pie would be fixed. This fixed mindset makes people think that to not be screwed over they have to screw someone else over. A growth mindset means you can create value for everyone in such a way that you are not taking value from others you are adding additional value through your labor, technology, or processes. ## Background Growth mindset is a concept developed by psychologist Carol Dweck to describe the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed and improved over time through hard work, dedication, and learning from failures. In contrast, a fixed mindset is the belief that abilities and intelligence are innate traits that cannot be changed or improved upon. Individuals with a growth mindset tend to view challenges as opportunities for growth, embrace learning and self-improvement, and persist in the face of setbacks. They see effort as necessary for mastery and believe that failures are opportunities to learn and improve. On the other hand, individuals with a fixed mindset may avoid challenges, give up easily, and view effort as a sign of weakness or lack of ability. The growth mindset has been linked to increased motivation, resilience, and academic achievement. It encourages individuals to focus on the process of learning and development rather than just the end result. By adopting a growth mindset, individuals can develop their abilities and achieve their goals by putting in the necessary effort and dedication. ## References -
